Forum: etree Subject: Great Slide Guitar & Female Artists

Earlier this year there were postings in the forum on great slide guitar and also one looking for female artist recommendations.

A few days ago I found the Atlanta-based blues band Delta Moon now has one show on the LMA. I had never heard of them until about 2 years ago. I came across a review of their Goin' Down South CD in Blues Revue. http://www.deltamoon.com/press.htm.

Based on the review, I bought the CD and was so impressed, that I bought the other two that they had our shortly after. In August of this year, they released another CD (Howlin'). I bought that one also.

They have two slide guitar players in the band and also a female lead singer.

Do yourself a favor & download their show on the LMA. If you like the show, check out any of their CDs. You will not be disappointed.

Happy Holidays!

I'm impressed that these female musicians are able to find the time to practice and play-out, considering all the laundry and cooking and cleaning that must be attended to...

Susan Tedeschi is a great (and award-winning) slide guitarist, easily worthy of being mentioned in the same breath as Bonnie Raitt, and, while she doesn't appear directly on the Archive, she does frequently show up at her husband, Derek Trucks', shows.

Donna Hopkins is another great Atlanta-based guitarist who is on the Archive, and, while she doesn't play slide herself (at least I don't think she does), she does kick out some mean jams and has slide guitar in her band. I discovered Donna through the Archive, but later found that she was linked from the Allman Brothers' main site, which should say something. Very hot and highly recommended.
